Ms. Rahal has been working in Gender Integration in Peacekeeping operations since 2010 through her job as a Gender Affairs Officer in UNIFIL. Among other tasks regarding gender mainstreaming in peacekeeping, her main area of focus is gender integration in military operations and ensuring that women’s voices and concerns are taken into account in conflict and post conflict areas at all levels in a culturally sensitive setup.
Ms. Rahal has developed gender training materials that target different disciplines in peacekeeping operations and delivers these trainings in a participatory approach in addition to training of trainers courses. Ms. Rahal has been working on challenges of integration of gender in peacekeeping missions and is involved heavily in creating institutionalized mechanisms that ensure that women inside and outside the peacekeeping body are consulted and involved and alternate apparatuses are created to fill existing gaps such as the establishment of the Female Assessment/Analysis Team.
Ms. Rahal has also worked for USAID, ILO and other development organizations in post conflict and developing countries as a program manager in providing equal opportunities in recovery to marginalized groups.
