DESCRIPTION:“Mediation process design”\nAdvanced one-day training program\nwith Issaka K. SOUARÉ\, PhD\nSenior Mediation Advisor \nTuesday\, 28 June 2022\n\nA well-crafted process design is for a peace or negotiation process what a good architectural plan is for a building. Mediation process design can be thought of as the act of structuring the mediation process and the resulting structure or plan of that act. It will provide a general overview on key concepts associated with mediation (e.g. facilitation\, negotiation\, good offices) and of process design\, before zooming on some of the main component parts of process design. The training program will be facilitated through multimedia presentations\, facilitated interactive exchanges\, and group works. A few days before the training\, participants will receive an assignment that they should process and report back on the day of the training. Specifically\, the various sessions will look at the following themes: \n  \n\nOverview of mediation: definition and fundamental qualities and skills\nMediation process design: definitions\, purpose\, and ideal timing\nConflict analysis and actor mapping for mediation process design\nMediation objectives and agenda setting\nMediation format and decision-making modalities\nFrom discussions to agreement points\nImplementation and monitoring mechanisms\n\n  \nThe program is designed for senior level staff in peacekeeping operations\, political and peacebuilding missions of the UN and regional organizations (AU\, OSCE\, EU etc.)\, diplomats\, senior advisors and political affairs officers\, present and future mediation practitioners working in governments and non–governmental organizations. \nThe training will take place on June 28 2022\, from 10:00 – 18:00 CEST\, with a lunch break from 13:30 – 14:30 CEST\, and two 15-minutes coffee breaks during each morning and afternoon session. \nThe training will take place via the online platform Zoom. \nThe number of participants is limited. \nRegistration is open until 27th May 2022 and can be done via the following link: https://www.confluxcenter.org/events/application-form/ \nThe course fee is 450 EUR (500 USD). \nThe course is conducted in English and translation is not provided\, but the facilitator could translate some key concepts in either French or Arabic. \nAPPLY NOW
